Bluebell Area

bbell2.JPG (745636 bytes)

General Description of Survey Area

The Bluebell Area lies at the top of the East facing slope of the Wet Woodland.  The resulting good drainage means that it is comparatively dry.  Parts of the area are littered with flints.  There is an extensive canopy of broad-leaved trees creating large areas of shade.  During the spring, the ground is carpeted with bluebells.  There are many ferns and mosses and a number of shade tolerant plants such as Yellow Pimpernel and Wood Sorrel.  The Bluebell Area has the appearance of classic English broad-leaved woodland.
